    constant restless behaviour
I have 2 male Royal (ball) pythons. Both have been really restless, climbing their tanks, constantly cruising, trying to get out for about 2 months. They did this last year for a short period, but they are not settling back to normal this time. Their enclosures haven't changed in over a year inc temps, heating source etc. Their behavior seems to mirror each other, ie- they will both stay in the cool side for exactly the same time period, and when one moves to the hot side the other will too. (not housed together, both in separate tanks in separate rooms by the way)

The bumblebee seems more restless, he is 2 years old.He is very outgoing and doesn't get stressed easily. There is no obvious signs of physical ill health.Handling or not handling doesn't seem to make a difference. If i leave him, he still climbs for hours, and when i let him have a wander out of the tank, he is still restless when i put him back.

With the behavior similar I'm guessing it may hormonal and them coming into sexual maturity and looking to mate? Both have not eaten in 3 months. They were in boarding for a month at my local rep shop back in feb/march while i was overseas. They ate twice when i got them home, they both got mites from there but i caught it early and cleared them up fairly quickly. The not eating isn't worrying, but the climbing is. Thought i would post here for any advice please? Is it a trip to the vets?

    Thanks Scott

    What are your temps?

They may be hungry also, what are you trying to feed?

Thanks for the replies. I keep offering food, but even the bumblebee who has a strong feeding response shows no interest. They are both on rats, i tried scenting with used gerbil bedding, and even tried them with mice but no joy.

So it looks like they are randy MissDixie.:D I have not got any females, how long will it be before they come off heat?:D Have i just got to let them ride it out?

(the normal BP has gone into shed today, so hope he calms down after it)

hard to say on the time....some go weeks, others go months.....you could always pick up a breeder size normal and acclimate her, by the time she's outta quarantine your boys should be ready to really do some business

Thanks, I did buy the bumble with an eye to breeding later down the line, but it is not an option with work at the moment.I haven't time to commit. Can i put a rubber snake in with him to take his frustrations out on:D:O only joking

They will have to do without for now...like me!:)
