frozen thawed

I have been feeding my baby bp live hopper and i just upgraded to a smal adult
and really want to switch her to frozen thawed
Any advice and how can i tell it is done thawed

If you lay it out to thaw, Youll need to heat the prey up with hot water or a hairdryer , when its warm and you feel no cold spots to the touch it should be ready

I let my F/T thaw at room temp then put them in a sealed plastic bag and place them in some hot water. (Not too hot!)

Never fails. Well... with my Spider it always works... my Normal decides when she wants to eat and it's not always on feed day :P

I feed small (60-90g) F/T rats. I pull them out at 5pm and let them thaw at room temp until 8:30-9pm (so they sit out for 3.5-4 hours). By that time, they are just a little cold and not frozen. I put them in a plastic bag and let them sit in hot water from the sink (not microwaved or boiled). After 10 minutes, I pull them out one by one (my temp gun usually says they are about 90-95*). I usually run the hairdryer on the rat for about 45 seconds on low heat, which gets them to 100*. I dangle the rat in the front of the tub and let my BP's come to the rat, strike it and the rest is history.

That last step with a blow dryer is very helpful. Use it overall to make sure the rat is warm and dry, and focus on the rat's head right before you offer it to the snake. Very often when one of mine doesn't go for the rat, if I go another round with the blow dryer, it does the trick!

One trick that I did to finally switch all of mines over was to pre-scent the room with a live rat 10 minutes before feeding time, it worked well. I don't have to do it no longer just make sure to blast with blow dryer.
