Video from Youtube - has anyone been bitten this casually by a ball?

I saw this video on youtube and thought it was so funny how secretive the ball was about biting. When I've seen BP's bite, its usually a strike bite. The ball in the video bit the kid so casually that the kid didn't even probably know it was coming. Is it normal for them to do it like that? Its about 40 seconds into the video.

I'm going to guess his hand smelled like the food. When my BP isn't exactly hungry she'll strike really slowly.

Yep....that'd be my guess, too. His hand smelled like rodent. I've seen snakes take f/t rodents very casually, just like that.

by the way, the easiest way to get a snake to stop biting in this situation is to run some cold water over it....

Yes been there done that, happened twice with very young animals.

Hands perfectly cleaned and sanitized (so no feeder smell)

In both instances I was handling them and they just slowly started chewing on me (very much like in this video) and started tightening their grip :rolleyes:

I've been lucky enough that the few bites they've gotten in have been the quick snap and slap. They just slap me with enough teeth to barely break the skin. The excitement of my first bite quickly turned to disappointment when I couldn't even squeeze up enough blood to make a decent bragging picture.

Watching this, I'm reminded why I don't browse youtube for care videos. No quarantine on a brand new animal. Easy way to lose your collection when your luck finally runs out. Yikes.
