Securing a tub?

I bought a sterilite tub with the two green handles and I want to know how to secure it, because I realized my snake is probably strong enough to just push up the middle and get out.

really anything you can think of to make sure its shut well. The bungee cords looked the most secure but one of my buddies just keeps a heavy stack of books on top and it works.

binder clips are fine. Ive used them to hold 1200 gram girls in tubs before i got a rack. I did use 2 clips per long side though.

I am going to suggest NOT using a stack of books. A animal that pushes the book aside enough to get its head out may get stuck and injure or kill itself if it can't get its head back in and it panics. The books or rocks or bricks (whatever) can hurt heads and necks and things. Also, other animals (like cats, dogs or children) can push them off.

Here's another option. It goes on both long sides. I like this better than the binder clip because I can just open one side and flip up the lid, keeping the other side secured. It does take some effort to open because you have to twist the thing. I used this when my bp was maternally incubating. I had to move mama snake to a tub instead of her glass tank so I can maintain high humidity.

Really easy with an electric screwdriver/drill thingee. Use a big drill bit. I used the drill to drill the holes on the plastic bin as well for ventilation.

I've used the green handled sterilite tubs for several years and have never had an escape from one.
I've kept 1000+ gram snakes in them and no escapes.
Maybe they cheapened them so they are more flexible?

Nice idea anatess, that looks fairly simple for a side lock on the tubs.

If I lift up the side of the tub in the middle it lifts up pretty easy and gives about 2+ inches of space, but if I pull harder it can give 3+ My snake is still young so he could easily squeeze through a 2 inch opening.

So maybe they are more flexible.

We use bungee cords/adjustable straps on all of ours....1 on the hatchling/smaller tubs & 2 straps on the bigger (32+ qt) tubs & haven't had a problem yet. Easy enough to remove for access & quick to strap back on. They have worked very well for us :)
