    Newbie to BP's
    Hey there,

I'm the 1.0 husband to kjhawk who introduced herself the other day. After the pre-requisite research, we've now found ourselves with a pair of BPs in addition(addiction) to the pile of corns we already have :)

So, here's Oscar. He's a yearling normal het pied. Beautiful little boy...but kind of ornery. He's living up to the "Oscar" moniker better than I'd planned. I'm learning, and apparently the BPs take a little bit longer for the shed process than the corns do...and Oscar has yet to be the docile little fellow he was when we picked him out.

He is definitely in blue, although seems less so today. But he's still way grumpy. Any good rules of thumb? 5-7 days or similar from the pink belly before handling or something along those lines?

I generally leave most of mine alone when they are in blue, once their eyes clear I handle etc.

    :welcome:

The shed process takes variable time to complete - it tends to get longer as the snake grows and there are some (like the pre-lay shed ) seem to take even longer than average for some reason.

But, as a rule of thumb ( i.e. guess :P ), he shouold shed 2-3 days after his eyes have cleared. Just keep the humidity at around 60-70% and he should be fine.

And they do tend to prefer their own company during the shed as they can't see as well as normal. :)
