stupid question maybe?

how can you tell if something is het by looking at it? im asking cause i dont know how or if it can even be done.

If it's a simple recessive het you can't tell by looking at it...

Yeah, what he said... The only simple recessive that kinda has a marker is a het pied... and even that isn't 100%.

Yup, if it's a 50% poss. het, it's right about 50% of the time...

There is no way to truly tell with any simple recessive het, even the pied markers dont always prove out. Thats why you have to buy from someone who has a good rep that you trust.
