Green tree patterns vs. color observation
Let me know if you think there's anything to this... We have 8 related green trees held back from 2009 and every red/brown neonate had large diamonds on the back and every yellow one has small spikes that are basically just the border color rather than the large, black-edged, white diamonds on the reds (see photos below). I recently got a chance to see some 2008 holdbacks from the original parents and every one of them was the same way.
I've never read anything about this and even Maxwell's book doesn't mention it to my knowledge. More than seeing who has similar ones, I'm really curious to see if anyone has a yellow with diamonds or a red with the thin spikes. Is this a species-wide thing or what?

Re: Green tree patterns vs. color observation
I'm sorry I can't answer your question.
But I have a question for you. Did the holdbacks show a difference when they developed their adult colors.
Did the animals that started out as yellow neos develop different patterns and colors than the animals that started out as red neos? Or did the neo color not affect the adult color at all?

As far as getting the pics to show up here, at least part of the reason that's not working is that you're not linking directly to the images - right click on the image on the website where it is and choose "open image in new window" or "copy image URL," then use that url in [ img ] tags and it should (probably) work. It might not if yuku.com won't allow a direct link like that, but it's worth a shot.
