Not sure where this should go... selling babies in Florida
I know that you need a license in the state of Florida to sell ball pythons at retail locations and snake shows.

    Here are my questions:

1.) Are you required to have a license to sell TO a pet shop?

2.) Are you required to have a license to sell privately to another person? (for example, advertising on a website as a private owner, meeting the person in person, selling them a BP in Florida)

    thanks,

    Technically yes to both questions.

If a person was to sell a snake to another individual, I doubt anyone is going to consider it "selling" snakes. If you are producing a number of snakes, then the state wants you to be licensed to 'exhibit and sell' wildlife.

Does everyone have one? No. By law are you supposed to have one? Pretty much yes.

    Hope this helps.

    well, that sucks.

So what is the potential penalty? I mean, if I sell one baby normal ball python to a neighbors kid for $20... and the "MAN" finds out, what happens to me?

I doubt anyone is going to do much about a single ball python. I'm unsure as to penalties, but it would probably be something like "dealing in class 3 wildlife without a permit" and they could probably take away whatever animals they wanted. Fine you? Really I have no idea at all exactly. I'm sure it's on a state wildlife website somewhere or other.

Again, I doubt it's supposed to stop someone from selling a ball python to someone. But it would depend on how much you had, or were selling, etc. How much of a jerk the officials are being.. etc.
