Before I go and buy a male clutch mate of my new female lesser, is it frowned upon or risky to breed brother to sister?

If you can get unrelated it would obviously be best but a lot depends on how you plan to breed the offspring as well.

For one or two generations, there's never been any indication that this is dangerous, in ball pythons. They appear to be very resistant to negative effects from inbreeding.

I have a 2 pastels from the same dad but diffrent moms who will be bred together but the offsping will not be used to breed back to either.:rolleyes:

It's really not that big of a deal. I haven't bred sibling ball pythons together, but I've bred Father to Daughter or Son to Mother several times without any problems. I've also been breeding corn snakes for over 20 years and I have a line of ghost corns that have been inbred over several generations without any problems cropping up. Obviously if you DO encounter any problems you shouldn't use any of those offspring for future breeders or breed the same pair together again, but the chances are pretty slim that you will actually encounter any problems.
