Did a good deed two weeks ago.
So heres the story. Me and my girl friends family went to the Petco in my town 2 weeks ago for shiz and iggles. Upon comming up on the repile section they have, I was checking everything out.....and boy was it a discrace. I feel horrible for the reptile. The Ball python and Columbian Red tail boa tanks were diiiiiiisgusting. The feces all in the water bowls and all over the enclosures and it had been there for a while you could tell. Not to mention the snakes were in the waters bowls soaking with it. Upon looking closer...there were covered head to tail in mites. Mites were all in the BP's pits, eyes...EVERYWHERE! Same was with the Boas. They looks soo miserable. Not to mention a arms reach away on the other isle was mite spray. So I called up the Florida Wildlife and Game which also does domestic and let them know how badly there were taking care of them. Id didnt inform Petco I reported them(knows they'ed try and hurry and fix it). So I left feeling like it did the right thing. Then a couple days ago I went back and check to see if they really went, and they had. The enclosure we MUCH cleaner, still had the old bedding. Which I belive held some of the mite still in it but, I only saw a couple in there in both enclosures. So before I left I stopped and asked one of the workers if he took care of the reptiles and he said yea. Then I told him that the looked alot better but, there was still some mites...and you could just tell he realized it was me that reported them and he dropped what he was doing and hurried over to them. It just made me feel good. Would ya'll done the same thing?

lol, I'm the 1 'no'. I would have reported it to the store manager, that way it would have gotten taken care of ASAP. Rather than waiting on F&W to do something about it, which I am not sure I believe they did. Your better avenue is either the store manager or the local animal control.

You would think the store manager would manage the store and look in on the animals that is considered stock or a product to a pet store like that ya know? So the manager knew or wasent concerned with animal part of the biz so like dude said instead of saying anythng to them... I would report it also. In fact i Have repoted a pet store here in my community. Two thmbs up for taking notice and speaking up!

The FLW is right down the road and was pulling in as we were leaving. They take animal abuse very serious around here.
