What's a good bedding to absorb scent/smell

my newspaper is obviously not capable of doing that.. is there any odor absorbent substrate we can use? I'm actually just a bit concerned bout the after smell when they poop (and urine) that even if you removed the poop the scent stays.

Personally I keep my bp on paper towels and newspaper, but I keep my ferrets on yesterday's news, which is like pelleted news paper, and it does a fairly good job at absorbing the scent of their waste, so maybe you could try that? Just make sure you feed in a different container and that you have a layer of solid newspaper between the pellets and the bottom of the container so your bp can't burn itself on the heat source... Or you could always go with aspen, too.

i don't use substrate i just clean and wash there cages as they go potty. now if i had to pick a substrate I'd go with aspen not really the best oder absorber but I'm sure it would have to work better then none at all or paper towels and newspapers

a few well placed time release air fresheners work wonders when dealing with smells if you get these go with ozome as this type of spray it don't mask the smell it gets rid of it. and a spray hear and there is all that is needed

Eco-earth expandable substrate is what I use. Holds humidity, smell, and is super easy to clean.

Quick question along these lines - I recently switched to a rack and started using Aspen - I have noticed that my larger female tends to move all the aspen around and then ends up laying directly on the plastic tub - is this okay?? I use a helix to control the heat tape so I know she can't get burned but should I also put a layer of paper down??

Any suggestions.

The reason they are doing this I'd be willing to bet with while your thermostat says 92 degrees it isn't 92 on the substrate.. I have thermostats that are set to 101 or lower....

Yes, it is okay for her to lay on the bottom of the tub.

It's fine. She is just thermoregulating. As long as your Helix is set properly, she will not burn herself.

Aspen or cypress mulch.
