De-chlorinate water

Just wondering if de-chlorinater should be added to the water i use for my bp. I have 2 huge fish tanks and i use de-chlorinater for them cuz im supposed to, but im pretty sure our water isnt that high in chlorine anyway......

Do not use fish de-chlorinator for your snakes, it is toxic. If you are all that worried about the chlorine just let the water stand overnight in a container and most of it will dissipate on it's own.

I worked at an exotic pet store that dealt with mainly reptiles and we used distilled water from publix we stocked up every week and we used that in the mist bottles and water bowls. Its cheap too:gj:

I have always given all my snakes water straight from the faucet and never had any problems with any of them.

I get the water straight from the faucet as well.

I was worried about it as well, but wasn't after asking a few big, long time breeders which told me they all used water straight from the faucet, always have, and never had any noticeable problems because of it.

Ok I guess I won't worry about it then!

I fill jugs, let those sit overnight, and then water from those. Our water has quite a bit of a chlorine smell to it, and I don't want my snakes running for their water bowls only to stick their heads into those fumes. I do the same for my birds as well.

I worked as a pool and spa tech for a while and learned quite a bit about chlorine. if you want it to dissipate put it in an open container like a tupperware with no lid and leave it in a place with direct sunlight and this will get rid or the chlorine in a small amount of water in the matter of a few hours that is unless there is a stabilizer in the water then it takes longer.

De-chlorinator adds allot of other stuff to the water that may be harmful to your snake. Just let it sit out overnight or if you really would rather get distilled. But right out of the faucet is just fine. I've been using faucet water for years without any problems. :8:

I wondered about that myself. I have been giving him straight tapwater and he seems ok. :rolleye2:
