    Treating wood from outside?
We had a major storm come through and I have plenty of perfect peices of wood in the yard. I have a good peice that he could use for shedding but I dont know how to treat it first. Should I bake it?

Most people I've seen who use wood they bring in usually bake it. IIRC they say about 200 degrees for about 30-60 minutes. Hopefully someone who does it will speak up...

yep, just bake it in the oven at 200-250* for about 30 to 40 minutes. Just to kill whatever is crawling all over it.

I do the same. I'm sure the temps all vary, personally I do 300 degrees for 30 min. However it is very important to make sure it is not pine or cedar!

After putting the wood in the oven, I have heard of people soaking in bleach for a very short period of time, rinsing it thoroughly, letting it dry and bake it again. Dont know why but I think it should be fine after the first bake. Nothing harmful to a snake can survive those temps.
