    sterlizing substrate
Hi all! I just got a new set up for my ~1 yr old ghost because she's definitely outgrown her old one. I was wondering if I need to sterilize the orchid bark that I got. The bag is sealed and everything, but I'm just not sure if I'm being too anal?

It should be OK. Keep in mind these are wild animals that live in the wild. While its important to give them a clean environment, sterilization is probably overkill and not necessary.

I've never sterilized bedding of any sort and never had a problem in over 17 years of keeping snakes.

There is no need to sterilize the bedding, but you should spray it with P.A.M. the mite killer.
