    Just to make sure
So, im getting a hognose at a show this coming weekend and know the care of them but just a few more questions.

What type of substrate do you use? Im assuming coco husk.

and how deep should I make it

The little guy will be just a baby :)

    Thanks!

Hi! I use shredded aspen and make it a few inches deep. My guy makes all sorts of tunnels through it and it holds them really well. It's like a little underground city in there :) Congrats on getting a little hoggie! You'll love him/her, they are awesome!

I've never seen anyone use coco husk for western hoggies, but that doens't mean it's a bad choice. They like to burrow.

I've seen both aspen and CareFresh used with great success.

I use Carefresh since I'm allergic to Aspen, and I fill it about 1-1.5 inches high. It's a little dry and dusty compared to Aspen, which isn't a big problem for this particular species (as they naturally live in desert regions). They do like to burrow, and she rarely uses her hide - just piles herself in the corner, sometimes with her nose buried in the substrate. You'll love these snakes... they're great! :gj:

P.S. In case you haven't chosen a "house" for him/her yet, my young'un lives in a 6qt tub quite comfortably... she's about 9-10 months old, and is just now starting to outgrow it.
