Re: Fighting with humidity.
There shouldn't be anything to worry about. Humidity is actually better for RIs. The main thing to worry about is scale rot, but as long as they're kept dry they should be okay.
Re: Fighting with humidity.
Thank youuu! It's been like this for about a week, and I've been pulling my hair out trying to think of what I could do short of spending 38264273498347 dollars on a dehumidifier. None of my snakes have RI's, but I was just concerned that they'd catch one.
Worse comes to worse, dehumidamabobber here I come, but I'm moving soon so I dunno if I'm going to need it in a month or so.
Thanks again!
Re: Fighting with humidity.
I know this is prob too late...but you could also try drilling holes in the TOP of the tank. If your water dish is on the hot side of the tank, move it to a cooler side (so it won't evaporate as quickly).
Glad to hear all is well!!!
Re: Fighting with humidity.
I'd worry more about low humidity than high, they like the high humidity as long as it's not dripping wet in the tub you'll be fine.
Re: Fighting with humidity.
I live in a humid area also and I use oscillating fans to ventilate air across my tubs to help with humidity. If you use these, you will need to workout what is the best fan speed and distance to keep the humidity where you want it. For example, my fans are on low speed setting and are placed about 5 feet away from the tubs and I have them oscillating. The humidity levels are sitting between 56-60%. Hope this helps...
