Help!

my baby ball python went poop twice today. the first one was really watery. the second happened while i was gone at my gfs house and when i got home i checked on her and i saw more but this times its the actual pinkie mouse i fed her a couple days ago, but head of the mouse is digested and brown but the last half of the pinkie mouse isnt digested and is still pink like it didnt even it. does anybody know what could have happened or why this happened?

maybe its not warm enough to digest??

How long ago did you feed your snake? Almost sounds more like regurgitation than a poo. Someone else will be around soon and they'll able to tell you better than I can. I'm relatively new to bp's.

Edit: the people that will be able to help better will probably want to know your temps and what not to help figure it out. You'll probably get helped faster if you can post temps and the tank setup now so they'll have the info as soon as they read it rather than have another post asking your temps and then waiting for your reply and then their reply.

ok so i will up the temp on the eating pad. but does it mean like she didnt even eat it and she didnt get the nutrients and stuff from the mouse? should i feed her sooner then her 5 day cycle?

What's the temp on the heat pad now? And can you tell what the temp on the substrate is? If you up it too much and your snake gets down in the substrate, they can get burned. Read over the caresheet here and check to see if your temps match to what the caresheet says before you up them too much.

If they were stressed out recently or handled within two days of the feeding they can get stressed out and regurgitate their meal, especially when they're little. I know the feeding after a regurgitation and fast are slightly different but I'm unsure of how different, but there are others here that can tell you soon.

ur snake ate the rat but regurged. make sure the rats arent too big, ur hot spot should be around 92*, make sure u dont mess with ur snake for 1-2 days after feeding. wait two weeks and try feeding again. in the two weeks dont mess with her unless u have to. good luck

alright thanx. she is about 2 months and a lil over a foot long and i fed her a pink rat and ppl are telling me thats way to small and that i should feed her hoppers. she spent most of her time in her hide but the one she was in was on the cool side. she always goes in the same hide never in the other one so i moved it to the hot side. so i think this shoul help with the digestion. but i will wait two weeks for her next feed.

Follow this and you should be good once temps are higher.


If you offer food too soon you will only cause another regurgitation to happen. Which is extremely hard on the snakes body.

After waiting 2 weeks offer a prey half the size you have been feeding. So if you were feeding small rats, you will offer a rat pup.

If the snake holds down the meal after 2 weeks rest, great now wait 2 more weeks and offer the same sized meal. If that one stays down then wait 7-10 days and offer same meal.

SLOW SLOW SLOW if you push it youll cause the snake to be prone to regurgitation as it ages and its a PITA. Ive dealt with many when dealing with BCC boas and the steps are the same with any snake as i just explained.


If she continues to regurgitate after all the rests between SMALL meals then you need to get some fecal testing done.

Please post a picture of your setup and very detailed info.

I've never had a snake regurgitate, so I actually recommend that you get her vet checked, and get a fecal check for parasites, ASAP.
