    Cage Size....Too Large?
I have several empty 4'x2'x1' cages available and would like to house my adult female balls in them. Do you think these cages would be too large for them? I know they like the security of tight areas and would certainly provide them with a hide.

IMO those are great for beardies ;)

Some might tell you it's ok, but to correctly heat and make them appropriate for a ball python is twice the work and twice as expensive as using tubs on flexwatt or a rack system.

in the wild they are not confined to a tub. I would place hides on the hot and cold sides and clutter it up a bit, making them feel secure. as long as your temps and humidity is in range they should do fine.

Exactly, im ditching the tank this upcoming weekend. even though I was able to tweak out my set up... with 2 uth both on seperate t-stats, a bulb, humid hides, water dish in the "perfect" spot, foil taped cardboard covering the screen, you can probably see why im switching this guy to a tub. Just to be clear i am switching him to a tub for the both of us (the snake and myself) temps and humidity will be more consistent. also ive come to the conclusion that if i want to "see" him, ill jus pull him out of the tub!

In my opinion, a 4x2x1 is too large for a ball python. It can be done but it will really just be more trouble than it is worth. Heating a cage that big will be much harder, not to mention all of the cage furniture you will need to make the animal feel secure. I personally would not want to wash all that stuff.

I kinda felt that way myself. The cages are empty right now, I guess I will need to add a few more boas to my collection. Right now I keep my balls in 41 qt. tubs in a 9 tub rack.
