Computer saves all movies as .MOV ....cant stop it
I cant figure out how to stop my computer from saving all my videos I record as .MOV, I cant remove Quicktime because I need it for an online game and I cant figure out how to set any defaults to make my videos save .WMV so I can use Windows Movie Maker for editing and creation and even use Windows Media Player for playback.
I personaly hate using Quicktime for watching movies, I only need it to play a game otherwise I wouldnt even have it.

Does anyone know how I can set my machine to save my videos as Windows Media ?

    Thanks.

Another reason to add to the list why I refuse to put quicktime on my computer. There are a few programs that will run quicktime apps/files without it being a cancerous sore on your hard drive.

    Umm please explain better.

If your uploading off of a digital camera then your most likely unable to change the format. Some cameras are .mov and you need to convert it. Windows will now automatically convert a .wmv .avi .mpg into .mov.

You may be seeing the quicktime icon on all videos since quicktime is your default player. If that is the case, follow this when opening a video file.

right click> open with>choose default program

Then just scroll/browse to find Windows Media player and select that. This will make all videos play in WMP by default.

Its a Canon, it always saved as .WMV before I installed Quicktime...I already have the default set to Windows Media Player and I get a message that says Media Player cannot open the file because it is an unknown file type.
So I guess the best option would be just to remove Quicktime, but I have a feeling its going to be one fo those programs that always leaves something behind and I will still be out of luck.

Windows movie maker does not accept .mov never has. Only accepts from what i know to work is .avi .mpg .mpeg.

Reason WMP will not play the .mov is you more than likely do not have the proper codecs for WMP to support .mov.
