Anyone Have a BP Directly from NERD?
I want to first off say, I'm not looking for all these comments saying how wonderful NERD is. Yes, their great in the sense they have really made BP's what they are today, but in all seriousness, I want to know if the snake you got from them had any health issues. I live about 45-60 minutes away from them, have gone there frequently. But when I go into the reptile room in Zoo Creatures and when I went on the tour of the facility, it just seemed like some of the animals cages were kind of dirty (in the petstore, not facility) and the animals were handled somewhat roughly. I'm not looking for an arguement so if thats what your going to start, please keep it to yourself. I just want to know if the BP that you got from there ever had any health probelms (mites, URI, etc.), was it nippy, scared alot? I'm just asking because I'm considering going down there sometime saturday to look at there current selection, but I'm nervous. If you had a bad experience and feel more comfortable PMing me, thats fine. I just want some references before I make this investment. Thanks!
Re: Anyone Have a BP Directly from NERD?
If a snake is nippy, its a personality trait not a problem. Same thing with being scared. I have a few really shy balls that just don't relax ever. I take them out and their bodies are tense the whole time. This is why going and handling the snake you intend to buy is a good idea. But I've always heard great things about them, but don't know anyone personally.
Re: Anyone Have a BP Directly from NERD?
I handled snakes at some of the reptile shows from them(their booth), if that helps? All the animals were clean and healthy looking in the whole display, as were all the ones pulled from "behind the counter" for folks wanting something not in the displays. I've seen NERD at a few shows now, and never saw a unhealthy animal, a mite, a RI, or any issues.
I haven't bought one, and haven't been to the facility(too far away), just to be clear. I've only seen what they had at the shows.
Re: Anyone Have a BP Directly from NERD?
I'm very close friends with the people at NERD and can tell you I've got a couple of their animals in my collection and would't think twice about adding more.
Re: Anyone Have a BP Directly from NERD?
I was up at Kevin's last week and picked up this guy.
He ate right away and is in perfect health. IMHO He is one of the finest Enchi's I have ever seen.

We had a complete tour upstairs and downstairs and everything was super clean.

Very nice Enchi. iCandi, is your snake eating live or f/t? My biggest concern is that that they wont have one eating f/t.
Re: Anyone Have a BP Directly from NERD?
My whole collection is on F/T. Most bp's will readily accept f/t if it is offered correctly, sometimes it takes a little trickery, but they convert, now am I saying that every single bp out there will accept f/t, nope because there are one or two here and there that wont. Even if your bp readily accepts f/t, it is still possible that a day will come when you have to offer live. Thats the nature of dealing with these animals.

We bought our Champagne from them in late 08 and we can say when spending that kind of money we wanted quality and we got it! He came healthy the only bad thing was he didnt breed the first year. :P Picky little dude! :)
