    I hit the jackpot
Ok so I went to the petstore to pick up a 1.2 rat breeding group yesterday. I saw they had a really fat prego girl and I got her. She had been laying on her back alot last night and today around 6pm she gave birth . I cant tell how many pinks yet(she's covering them pretty good lol). My question is how long should I wait to check things out? I want to get a count but I also don't want to stress her so much that she eats her litter. Thanks in advance for any replies

Yea I'll let her get some rest. It does feel good to see a bunch of pinks in there though.

    Congrats on the pick up.

I agree with allowing her space since you just brought her in, but you could/should try to win her over with treats occasionally while she's nursing, especially healthy veggies or fruit pieces.

she was smelling me while I was changing the water. She didnt seem to bothered having me in there. What are some treats that I could try to give her? I tried a craisin but she just took it and dropped it on the floor.

green beans are a favorite, as is apple slices, yogurt, whole grain breads, and if you want to see something funny give em some mashed potato's, my rats try to rip the spoon out of my hands when I hold it out with some mashed tatoes :P
