Breeding Question - How many times you put them together
On this site which I found in the BP breeding section http://www.ballpython.ca/gallery/breeding.html, it says to put the male in the females cage for 2-3 days, less if you see copulation. It also says to breed the female once every shed cycle. After putting the male into the females cage for 2-3 days, do you wait until she sheds again to put him back in or wait until you know she's gravid or not? I'm a little confused. Thanks!

3 days on 3 days off.Put the male back in his bin and offer food.I pair males with females until the female ovulates. If you happen to catch a few good locks, chances are, he's going to get the job done.Males do need some down time as it is possible to breed them to death(rare).Best of luck to you

We put our males in, if we see them lock, we pull him out after they seperate and put him in with the next girl. If we don't see them lock we give him 2 days and move him on to the next girl. Every 7 days we give him 2 days in his home and offer food. Then go again. Everyone has their own way to do it and what seems to work best for them. We tried new ways and learned what worked best for us and what we felt like got us the best results. We start cool down in Oct. and do it for 2 weeks and then start breeding and end it around March if it seems all our girls are done and we don't see them locking any more. I wish you luck.
