here is Scarlett's tank. it is 72 gal. with a locking screen top and a heating lamps (1 day, 1 night, and 1 uv). the sub strait is coconut husk (works well for moisture control) cover by duglus fur chips. Scarlett is about 4 ft. does she need anything else?

My roommate's snake got more comfortable once she tossed in some silk plants as decorations. Maybe toss in some fake plants to creep around in or hide under? She got her fake vines from Hobby Lobby for like $2. Then again her snake is a cornsnake. My Balls are all in fairly spartan-looking tubs. :)

I'll just make a remark that 72 gallons has to be the biggest tank I have heard a ball living in. I have my two dragons in a smaller tank. We should trade ;)

Hey question for you guy's i am about to obtain a 40 gal tank to downgrade Scarlett to. The issue is she is in shed right now and i don't want to stress her out to much by putting her in a new environment. So really hold off till post shed or she'll be fine just swap them. Also y is it important to have 2 identical hides? She has 2 i get the whole 1 on the cool end 1 on the hot idea but why do they need to be the same?

I'd suggest waiting till the shed. You already know your humidity is fine in the current tank, right?

You want identical hides so they don't play favorites. If for some reason your snake likes the hide on the cool side more, maybe it offeres more comfort, they will stay on the cool side instead of going to the other side to thermoregulate. Works the other way around too. And I've tested this with my boa. I upgraded one of her hides from a cardboard shoebox to a small litter pan and she'd NEVER leave the litterpan hide on the warm side. I replaced her other cardboard hide with a matching litterpan and I now see her on the other side on occasion.

is there a vast difference in circumference or height? They don't care if it's a different color or made of a different material.
