He killed the mouse but didnt eat it???

My snake killed the mouse but then just left it is that normal?

Did you make sure the Mouse/Rat wasn't to big? Iv never experienced this type of thing with my BP but lately Iv been reading about peoples BPs that just strike but don't eat. I would assume its normal and not a bad thing especially cause he showed interest in the food.

Your title and body say two different things. I'll assume it was a typo ;) Sometime they kill it and don't eat it if they're simply not hungry or they just changed their mind. Mine have done this with P/K (struck and coiled) but never with live.

It happens. Odds are something spooked him/her after he killed it and was about to eat it. Or the item could have been too big.

I've leave him/her alone for a day or 2 and try again.

Easy way to tell is compare the mouses width with the widest part of your BPs body. If it is bigger then the chances are thats why he didn't eat it. If its ideal or smaller for his size then its probably that he wasn't hungry or changed his mind.

I have had the same thing happen to me before, nothing to worry about. Sometimes the snake will just kill the mouse/rat for territorial reasons, my female has done it several times. Or if they are in shed, they kill it, then lose interest, I've had this happen as well. Another reason would be if it's too big, yes. My oldest female actually refused to eat a medium rat because of its smell. But every snake eats differently, and it's perfectly fine to the snake. Good luck with your snake, they always eat when they're good and hungry. ;)
