    Aspen Base!
    Hey All:

Can anyone tell me if I have a package of "Aspen" for my BP's " that has been sitting for a year NIP will it be ok for my BH's? Do I need to spray some PAM on the Aspen, or are the mites long dead?

I've heard of mites from substrate, but under this condition I would think they are dead (30-35days without food?).

I will probably use some PVC anyways....

    :)

One thing you could always do would be to stick it in a black plastic bag and put it out in a nice sunny area for an entire day. Not gonna promise you anything but they get very hot inside those bags, guns collectors use this to melt the cosmoline (a waxy water-tight preservative) and it works wonders.

There should not have been any mites in the bedding to begin with, unless you put them in there. The mites generally seen in bedding are wood mites, and have no effect on your snake. You are correct though, if there were any reptiles mites in the bag, they would have died at least 10 months ago.
