Can I bring my snake in the park, mall, etc etc where dogs are allowed
coz i was planning to bring my snake to a trip to the park with my gf and her dog, and she's like, NO WAY you're doing that! you will make people scream and probably cause us trouble, i'm not even sure its legal!
is it legal? lol

It's probably legal, but some people will freak out BAD if you take a snake. Rather than risk freaking someone out bad enough to call the cops or try harming you and/or the snake, don't do it. I get enough looks in my front yard with a wormy corn snake in a tree.

There's no reason to take your snake to the park with you - the only reason would be to get a reaction out of people, and we as a community really don't need the negative attention that would bring.
The snake is not going to enjoy the outing, and in fact is more likely to be stressed by the experience.
I'm with the girlfriend - leave the snake at home. There's zero benefit for your snake to take it to the park.

I went to a car show a while back and a guy was carrying around a ball python. Alot of people loved it and there were also the people that just stayed away. You can do it as a learning experience. Most people don't have the guts to come up to you and say anything so they will probably just give wierd looks and stay back. Cops can't really do anything since it's not a threat. Make sure of the rules where your going just to be sure.

It's not the fact of it being legal or anything.
We do not need any negative attention right now, especially with all the laws they're throwing out now-a-days.
Taking it to like a reptile show, or reptile store is different then taking them out to like a park or something. I wouldn't but we can't make your decision for you.

I'm sure it would attract attention, but why is it automatically assumed this would be negative attention? You're not going to take your snake by the tail and swing it around at little kids, are you? You'd be a dude with a snake in the park. I'm sure people would look, and some may even ask questions. Sounds like a good opportunity for positive attention...
We're reptile keepers, not meth addicts. We don't have to hide our "addiction"... :)

I dont get taking your snake to the park full stop..why? people take dogs to excercise..not for attention..Are you simply seeking attention..gf is right, leave the snake at home..my little boy would probably think it wasa cool idea but then again he is only 12
edit: even he wonders why?

depends on the place and the potential crowd; in where I live, I can afford to bring my fave retic in this complex known for having pet shops that specialize in exotics; it also happens to be the same complex where the exotic vet holds clinic. In *that* area, people dont freak out that much.
However, in any other places where the crowd can't evade you, i'd say it's not exactly a good idea.

Maybe his snake needs exercise ;)
I wouldn't personally take a snake to a park unless there was some kind of snake meet. I do take one or the other to the pet store on the rare day. It's a really good feeling when someone takes an interest in the snake, especially children.
It's not illegal, and if you don't take our advice, just be sure to be courteous to other people and don't ever walk towards someone who is visually terrified. You and I know that you're more likely to get bit by a random dog at the park, but someone who has a fear of snakes doesn't care and probably won't listen or care how friendly your snake may be.
