My ball python ate 4 times...in one week!!

Okay so on friday i was feeding my male ball python. Now he's a BIG boy about...3 years old. So i started off with a large mouse. He took it with no problem. :D. I proceeded to give him a weand rat he also took it without a problem. :D

F/T BTW.

So sunday night i went over to feed my baby female an Adult mouse. She declined. So i looked over in my males enclosure and he had his head raised / tounge was flickering. So i said what the hell. I offered him the mouse he took it without a problem. I then defrosted another rodent for my redtail boa. He was not interested ( Had ate 6 days before)

So i look over at my male :rolleye2:

Yepp he's looking interested. So i offer him the weand rat and he once again took it without a problem. :banana:

Thats 2 weand rats and 2 large mice in 1 week this equals up to a MED rat. But still im suprised he ate 4 times.

Now before you guys get mad at me this was the first time i ever did this and my BP is fine and healthy as ever.

I guess I'm just confused why you'd be feeding a 3 year old snake weaned rats?

I did not have any larger rodents at the time. Maybe thats why i fed so many :salute:

Nothing wrong with multiple feeds, I do it quite often.

I have a friend that feeds all of his snakes 20ish gram rats all day long and his snakes grow faster than most.
May 09 lesser female 1550 grams
May 09 lesser female 1145 grams
Aug. 09 yb female 1100 grams

and more, all fed 20 gram rats as many as they'll eat once a week.

One prey item, 5 tiny prey items, as long as the snakes are eating who cares.

I'm laughing at him feeding 1500 gram snakes 20 gram rats, he's laughing at me because his snakes are growing faster than mine :rofl:

i feed my snakes smaller then recommended meals, just more often. it keeps them eating and more lean then fat in my opinion. i breed my own food so i can do this without spending rediculous amounts of money. ill feed every 3-4 days.

Gotcha. It just sounded like you were used to only feeding him one small prey item because you seemed surprised that he would eat multiple small ones. You also sounded really impressed that it equaled a medium rat. I guess that's why we got the wrong impression!

Good luck finding appropriately sized prey items in the future! Your wallet will sure appreciate it:)
