    Webstaurant tubs
Has anyone used the high density tubs from webstaurant.com? It looks like there are ridges lining the bottom but can't really tell by the pictures on the site. The tubs seem very well priced, 3.18 for 12 or more, compared to the mason tubs at home depot being almost 7 dollars a piece. I suppose even with the ridges if I have problems with chewing, which I don't with most of my rats, I can fabricate up a liner for the bottom. Just wondered if anyone had any info on these and what they thought about them.
    Thanks\
    Josh

We use those exact tubs and they can and do chew the bottom..But a simple sheet metal bottom pop riveted to the bottom fixes it..

Thanks for the quick response. I did buy a dozen to see if they would work or not. I figured I could fab up something to go on the bottom that would stop them. Do you have any pics of your setup? I would love to see it.
    Thanks Again

I got mine from their website and the picture shows a ridge on them. When they came, they looked like this:

I got these back in the beginning of June from their website. I house my ASF's in them and have never had a chew out. There nice and heavy duty.

Haha they are both made from the same material (polyethylene) genius...If they can chew one, they can chew the other

Dont really see why you had to be such a smart *** about it. Not really at all neccessary.

But to comment on the mortar tubs, most people breeding rats or mice use the mortar tubs because they are pretty heavy duty and stand up to the rats and mice very well. Yes they are made of the same material, but do you know if one is thicker than the other? Im thinking the mortar tubs are thicker than the restaurant tubs.

I wasn't being a smart *** at all. Just pointing out the obvious.

It isnt really about what material they are made out of, or how thick they are. This is about the redges in the botom. These ridges make it easier for them to get their teeth started into the plastic. I personally don't think I would buy them, without preparing to fabricate something to the bottom. (Freakie_frog, do you have any issues with cleaning the tubs with the extra stuff in the bottom?) I use the simple mortar tubs from Menards. They have no ridges. I have still had a chew out. The mom chewed, and the baby got out.... since she has gone, there have been no more problems.
