Go big or go home I guess...
I'm considering my first set for breeding and I think I may have found what I'm looking for.

    Mystic Potions are SOOOOOOOO nice!

Now the question is, do I go phantom or mystic? I've read online that they are the same and some saying they are different. If you guys could help me figure this out it would be much appreciated.

From what I understand it's a simple mix of mojave and phantom or mojave and mystic.

Has anyone tried mystic potion x mystic potion?

    Also are these good prices?

1500 give or take for mystic
200 give or take for mojave
    ??? For phantom

Yea those potions right there are the ones that got the gears rolling lol.

But at $5500 each... I think I'll just turn em into projects.

If you don't have anything involved in this project yet, I would go a head and get your female, I'm assuming, Mojave and let her grow up for a year or 2. When she's a year or so out from breeding, then buy your Mystic or Phantom. The first Phantom Mojave was just hatched and it doesn't really look like a Potion honestly. Here's the link to that pic

I think that the phantom x mojo basically has shown that phantoms and mystics are not the same. OP, as for which one you should get, that's totally up to you. I REALLY like super phantoms, and I really like mystic potions.

I think in the long run it would cost less to produce a mystic potion.

Dreese's suggestion is great. Unless you're in the market for buying a 'close to breeding size' mojo female, which will be expensive itself, get a nice affordable hatchling and raise her up for a bit and hold off on the mystic.

Of course, you could pick up one or two breeder sized normals, a mojo female to raise up, and a mystic male. This would let you attempt to breed a few mystics next season while you're waiting for that mojo female to get to size to be able to produce potions.

So instead of buying a yearling mojave female you think it would be best to buy the following:

    1.0 mystic baby
    0.1 mojave baby
    0.2 normal breeder size

I thought it took 18 months for the male to mature.

My pastel bred at a little over a year, but was producing sperm at around 8 months. To breed smaller/younger males you just have to watch them closely and not work them too hard. I introduced my male once every 3 weeks for around 3 months. You really don't need any more than one copulation a month. If a young male will stay on feed while breeding successfully, I don't see a reason why a younger male shouldn't be used in your program.
