opinions needed

ok so i have never bred ball pythons.

but,
i have read an exeptional bit.
and feel i am ready to take it on,

but, is my female norm, and male pastel?
he just weighed in at 411g.
and she just weighed in at 1235g.

now i know he's still a little to small, which i dont plan on letting him at her till he's over 600g

however the way he eats, a rat pup every week(which if u look at him in person, he's a big boy for an 09. kinda short but very stalky.) im sure he'll be good to go this season.

and my female seems to not be getting any heavier and feeds well every week on 3-5 retired breeder mice a week. depending on how hungry she is.

she has been at 1200g+ but doesn't seem to get bigger than 1250g
she's about 4 1/2ft and very stalky as well. beautiful patterns on both.

she's pretty large but just not huge like some ive seen. but as i said she doesn't seem like she will be getting any heavier or longer/bigger. i believe she is at her max size. she's also about 3-4 yrs old.

the question is, when is a good time to send the boy in? ive heard nov, early oct. and early dec.

i wont till my male is at 600+grams but i want to ensure my ladie is ready as well.

You could try getting them on rats... Mice don't have much to them, switch them and they'll probably start gaining weight with the extra meat, lol.

As far as the breeding goes I don't know a whole lot about that but I believe most people start putting the males in around October-December as well. I think it all depends on where the female is in her cycle.

At that weight your boy should manage med-large weaners..why is he only eating a rat pup once a week ..the female should be growing well on 3-5 ex breeders per week :O

They should both make weight this season, just keep them eating, nothing out of the normal, just food consistently till they stop on their own in season, and even then I offer once a week.

get your boy on small rats as stated above. The girl has not stopped growing at 4 years old trust me. Keep feeding them until the female goes off feed and at two weeks of both not feeding put them together. If your female does not go off feed by december you could always stick him in for a weekend rendevous but offer her food while they are on breaks. good luck with your season.
