    first rat!
my first attempt at feeding my girl bp a small rat was a success. i guess i should be very happy but screaming of the rat just ruined it for me. it was soo loud and soo much of it that i felt real real horrible and it ruined my good mood for a while :(. i know ill get used to it and ill be fine doin it but it was just soo awful the first time. has anyone else ever hae that happen to them where a mouse or a rat made sooo much noise that it just made u feel really really horrible?

I strictly feed live, and I'll tell you that is the one thing that always makes you feel bad, especially if it is a really cute one.

I feed live and the sound doesn't bother me, I just remind myself it's natural.

It still bothers me some, but the cuteness of the rat isn't a factor :P

    There's always earplugs.

I am very fortunate in that my three live eaters strike head first without fail almost, and thus no screaming.

I've always fed live because my mom would shoot me with my own gun if she found dead mice in the freezer. Anywho I just always see them as food for my pet rather than a living animal, thus no guilt. Could I own a rat / mouse as a pet? Sure I could, and if I fed that to my snake I might feel a little bad but knowing that the whole reason the mice were bred was as food it takes all the emotional sting out of it; for me any way. Hopefully you can just get used to it, good luck! :gj:
