I would love to see how everyone has their cage setup.

We are getting a beardie and i want to make sure I have everything perfect. I didn't see a care sheet for them in this section. I would love to know that watts of the basking lights, and what other light source does everyone use?

We have 17 snakes, and some geckos so beardies are new to us!

    Thanks again :)

I can't help you with the cage set-up because I don't have a beardie, yet. I am hoping to have one soon.

But here is a caresheet I found on here.

Good luck with your beardie when you get him/her! :)

That care sheet pretty much covers it all. The one thing I will say is about substrate... I used a few different things before switching to tiles, and I'll never go back. Tiles are great for basking as they'll hold heat well, and, if you can get the slick tiles (like bathroom tiles) to put in the bottom of the enclosure, it makes clean-ups SOOOO much easier. You can just wipe up after them (I use baby wipes).

Beardies aren't the cleanest of critters, and they'll smear their poo around everywhere... not to mention throw their food around. I think they just like making messes :)

Here's our tank set up. BUT with a baby and juvenile, you want to avoid sand. When they get full size, you can switch to sand but you don't have to and you must get a very very fine sand. We got some poor information when we got our beardie and we got lucky.

The bulb wattage you get will depend on what size tank you have.

We have a UV bulb over the twisted tree and a heat bulb over the tree house. In August we will be getting a MVB so the setup will change a bit.

The site I use with a caresheet is apparently broken but when it's back up I'll post it here. This is an excellent sheet with what you can and can't feed your beardie. They need calcium dusted on crickets and greens 5-6x per week and a multivitamin I think it's 3-4x per week. As a baby and juvenile they'll eat 80% crickets and 20% salad but you should offer a salad every day anyway. When they're full grown this will switch to 20% crickets and 80% greens.

They must have a UVB bulb.

Also, google and know the signs of metabolic bone disease. It's very deadly to bearded dragons so it helps to know the signs of it to catch it as soon as possible. If caught quickly, and taken to a vet it can be cured. So, early detection is key. Though, some beardies "wave" and things like that which can be similar, but once you know your beardie, it's fairly obvious which is just them and when it's MBD.

Ummmm... that's all I can think of now... If I think of anything else I'll let you know.

His cage is a 4x2x2, and we put down laminate on the whole thing...easy for clean up. The rocks are from the local landscape store...the cactus are from michaels (just super glued down)

The ramp is just extra wood we carved notches into and the bed...is just because I am an over the top reptile mom...lol:rolleyes:
