Flexwatt heat tape question !
I am switching my 10 slot rack from belly heat to back heat.
the flexwatt that needs to be covered is about 5 1/2 feet.
the clear cut marks are every foot on the heat tape. so i have an extra 6 inches of flexwatt i dont need.
my question is, IS IT ALRIGHT TO CUT THE BLACK PART OF THE HEAT TAPE ?
i have heard not to.
if its not okay to cut in the black part what should i do with the extra 6 inches of heat tape?
it is 11 inch heat tape and i am using aluminum tape to tape the flexwatt down.
Re: Flexwatt heat tape question !
Dont cut the black lines, just cut the clear part in between two black strips. But why are you switching to back heat if you already have belly heat? Imo Belly heat is better as it aids in digestion

The rack uses 3 inch belly heat. the heat tape is fried and needed to be replaced. the show i went to today only had 5 and 11 inch heat tape.
so i am switching for the time being. i have 10 snakes relying on some sort of heat lol !
Re: Flexwatt heat tape question !
I just put down my heat tape yesterday. Cut the clear area between the black heating elements and then make sure the ends are taped over so you dont come in contact with it.
Re: Flexwatt heat tape question !
Don't cut the black heating strips that run up and down. The horizontal heat elements are fine to cut. Is there a reason you are switching to back heat? Belly heat is much better IMO.
If your belly heat got fried from the tubs rubbing, I have a solution:

Composit plastic window shims
