    Back Ache...ugh.
    My back is killing me...:rage:

Last monday I was working out in the yard picking up big rocks and moving them off my lawn. As I was pulling on one I yanked something in my back and it hurts sooo much! I can't find any relief sitting, standing, laying, it all sucks lol. I've never really hurt my back like this, and it doesn't feel too good. I also don't have medical insurance. How do I know if I hurt something important, like a herniated disc or something? Just looking for some insight because I never had this happen to me like this. Just hurts so much. I'm not one to complain constantly but I am starting to feel bad for my gf because all I seem to have on my mind lately is back pain complaints. Any suggestions would be appreciated like you would not believe...Just need some kind of escape from it.

I have a terrible back and cannot stand Narcotic pain meds.

I take this stuff called Tramadol....amazing stuff.

Ive had to go to the ER for my back because I thought I had herniated a disc as well.

    No fun.

yeah man, its not...I've just been taking advil, using my heat pad, and stretching as much as possible. Thats really it...When do you think it becomes necessary to go to the ER?

Remember, the medical advice you get on-line is exactly worth what you paid for it. Go see a doctor.

I've had something like this happen before. I don't remember what I was doing but I pulled like my back like this and it hurt so bad. I couldn't sleep right for a few days I was uncomfortable no matter how I would lay. I think it was just a pulled muscle, the pain did go away after a few days. If it still hurts in a week I would definitely see a doctor though. You could try to put some Bengay on it and see if it helps.

    It'll be a week tomorrow...

I don't know whats going on, but this is crazy. I don't think I've ever had pain like this period. If its not somewhat better by the end of this week I'm going to the doctor for sure, insurance or not. I got some maxfreeze which helps me fall asleep. I'm just looking for any tips to help with the pain because it kills!

My advice for back pain has always been hot then cold.

Use a heating pad for 15 minutes, wait 30 minutes then use ice pack for 15.

You can repeat this every 2 or 3 hours.

No it doesn't make it go away, but it usually makes it bearable.

As far as medical care, it MIGHT be a cheaper option for you to visit an Urgent Care if you have one nearby. You might want to call them and ask if they can treat back pain.

    Best wishes to you.

My boyfriend just injured his back at work not to long ago. He went to the doctor and they put him on some pain meds and also gave him a muscle relaxant. He was also instructed to go and do physical therapy which consisted of exercises for his back, a lot of it was stretching. I think that once you go see a doctor and get treatment you will be just fine.

I got a good rest last night, so I am feeling a bit better today. Still really stiff, and sore, but but bearable. I've been doing lots stretching, and just trying to stay as inactive as possible lol. I make sure I stand up and stretch things out if I've been sitting too long. I also notice too much of cold/hot is bad. Its all moderation with both otherwise it can just worsen it. I'm gonna try just resting more, and seeing if by the end of this week if I'm better. If not I will be making a trip to urgent care like you said. Thanks everyone!
