    Change of BP Diet...(Should I)
Hello Everyone. Im new to the site and I have learned much here, but im stuck in a situation.

I just bought my second normal ball python however the lady that I bought him from stated that he eats 6 mice every two weeks. Is that a normal feeding? He is about 4 feet long. She stated that she has had him for 8 years.

He looks healthy but im worried that a live feeder will hurt him. Should I continue with the feeding routine that the snake is already on? Or start feeding him frozen/thawed mice?

    Thanks so much :)

at his age i would keep him on his routine hes on now. Switching to pre killed might work but F/T on most adults are not easy to switch over. And Mice dont have the jaw power to hurt a snake much while in the coils.

You can buy live and pre kill them and offer that way if no go then your gonna either have to feed live or not feed till he takes what you want

You can change it. He's old enough to go probably more than a year without eating, and as refuses, he just gets hungrier and closer to accepting what you offer him. I just got a six year old who was sold to me as a live mouse/ASF eater to eat a frozen mouse last night. He also just doesn't eat for about six months out of the year. Just wait him out and keep offering what you want him to eat.

Six mice every two weeks just sounds odd. Three every week would be a bit better, I think. More regular. If they're the appropriate weight.

Any live feeder shouldn't hurt him, if you're supervising. They are made to kill and eat small rodents. I would, however, try to switch for rats, mostly for convenience, but also for their reputed "nutritional benefits" over mice. You'll only have to feed one rat instead of 3 mice.
