Need some Humidity help.

Hey guys my pastel is going into the blue today and I need some help with the humidity.
Here's a picture of what the tank looked like a month ago, since then ive moved the heat lamp over top of the hide and added a digital thermometer/hydrometer.

With a towel I mist 3 times a day over the cool side of the cage the Humidity plateau's off around 38%. What other things can I do to raise it up into the low 60's?

add extra water in the water bowl and try to get at least a part of it under the heat lamp so that it starts to evaporate a little and add extra moisture in the air.

if it has a screen top then just try and find something to cover the cage a little better without covering it completely. they do sell fog/humidity machines at petsmart if your really concerned.

Do a damp hide. Dampen Spaghum moss and put in one of those covered hides with a hole (or rig a large margarine container) Google for better instructions. This is the only thing that worked for me, along with covering the sereen partially with plexiglass.

Im guessing with the damp hide it would go on the cold side with the bowl? I'll get on that first thing tomorrow morning!

Get a much shorter enclosure. All your heat and humidity is rising.
Switch to belly heat. The lamp is drying out the air.
Get two hides.

Read the caresheet and sticky titled, "Glass tank setup" or something like that.

Such low humidity can damage their lungs and lead to a respiratory infection. You can lift up their hide and hit them with a spray bottle during the days leading up to a shed. Just don't soak the substrate so bad it won't dry out. It could mold or rot.

Here's the updated tank that I put together today. I couldn't make it over to the exotic pet store so the UTH won't be installed until tomorrow. It looks too crowded tho is that alright?

I got a humid hide in there and now I have 3 pieces of black Bristol board around the three sides (has nothing to do with humidity but it should make them feel more secure).

Is the towel wet? If not soak it in the sink, then wring it out so that it is wet but not dripping. Fold it up to fit the size of the screen you want to cover and lay it on there. Re-wet it as needed.

If you are going to use a UTH or flexwatt, make sure you have a thermostat or at least a dimmer to control it... :gj:

No I had just been misting it, I'll soak it now tho, thanks for the tip!

Your problems:
1. A fish cage is not conducive to a high humidity requirement.
2. An overhead heat source dries out air even more (not to mention being an entirely useless heat source for a ball python that spends 100% of it's life on the ground, and 99% of it's life hidden in a hide).
3. A mesh top is also completely counterproductive.
