    My 1st reptile show...
I'm planning on attending my 1st reptile show in a couple weeks. I one BP at the moment, and i would like another friend to bring home. I have the time to take care of another snake, and can afford one long term as well.

I'm planning on going to the show with a fixed amount of maybe $200 or so. My question is:

What kind of snakes would I be able to buy within that price range? I'm thinking of either another BP, or another "beginner" snake. I don't want another "normal" BP - I would like a morph of some sort.

    Anyone have any ideas??

You could get a pastel or *maybe* a spider. You could also look into colubrids, you could get a couple different morphs for $200, if not a few.

I paid 125.00 for my female pastel, you maybe able to snag a spider. You can probably even get a pair of spotted pythons for 200.

What show? This may be a show where you can catch a glimpse of The Man, The Myth, The Legend in his own mind.

You should be able to get a Spider and a Pastel Ball Python. Somehow that just seems impossible since BG remembers not so long ago when a Spider was an easy 20+ thousand.:O

Man, I wish you'd come to Pittsburgh some time XD.

To OP: Before you purchase a spider, I feel I should warn you (as many seem to forget about), they have a genetic issue that causes them to have a "wobble," which is kind of cute and will have little effect on the snake's life if you get a decent one (most with severe issues wont thrive long enough to make it to the show). But, yeah I always throw that out there when people are getting a snake with the spider gene.

Anyway, look around and see what you like, really 300$ would be a much better amount to go with, if not 400$. However you may be able to find a nice morph for only 200$, still dont make the decision until you have gone around and looked at everything, you may end up falling in love with a snake, then 5 minutes later falling in love even more with another one.

Definitely go with a pastel for ball pythons. Unless you plan on getting into breeding for morphs. I'm not personally a fan of spiders, but you can get gorgeous little bumblebees out of them.

As for other snakes, you can get a Western hognose, a young normal phase rtb, or just about any kingsnake, milksnake, or New World rat snake under the sun. Mexican black kings are beautiful lil guys.

That being said, I'd still go with a little more, and maybe you'd be able to pick up a few supplies for a good deal while you're there.

I actually was able to buy a mojave male from a very reputable breeder for $200 a few months ago. I guess it depends who's there with what.

    Pastel, Spider, maybe Mojave.

    Good luck at the show!

You're probably talking about Hamburg, PA?
As everyone said, you can get any spider or pastel for $200.

Hamburg is cool, pretty big for our area. I've been to one show in Maryland that was 1/10 the size of Hamburg.

Lots of cool things at Hamburg.
