aggresive baby

i Just got my first bp and he/she is really aggresive anytime i move something or try to pick him/her up it strikes toward me i've been bitten a few times one drew a tiny bit of blood is there anything i could do to help curb the bitting?:confused:

Probably stress, potentially just aggressive. How long ago did you get it, did you give it 1-2 weeks alone, followed by offering food and then another week of peace followed by feeding it again? That's my own means of letting snakes settle in and it works well.

Babies tend to be more agressive/defensive, make sure your husbandry is optimal if you have any doubt consult our caresheet.

Make sure you are feeding enough.

Avoid over handling which causes stress.

It will get better just give it a little time.

well i got it 6 days ago feed him once they said they feed him but i doubt it because he is kinda on the skinny side to me and he didnt hesatate with the fuzzy just went right after it i will leave it alone for a while feed it again them see how things go from there but the guy at the store said he was a little aggresive just wondering if maybe over time with handling will it be calm
temps 85 and humidity 65

Leaving the snake alone should help it not be so stressed. Also, make sure it feels secure in the habitat. I know all I wanted to do when I first got mine is hold it and play with it, but I had to restrain myself. It's hard, but if you can let the snake be for a week or so, then you should start to be able to handle it again in time.

Oh definitely. Might get hissy, you may get tagged, but I have never been scared of my balls or other people's, no matter how aggressive. They definitely calm down if you arent scared of them and handle them occasionally. But at this point your snake is in a new environment, scared of you, and probably a little stressed. Get the first and last handled first by making sure it is given time to acclimate, then handle the second with handling later.

Hahaha, yeah... It's murder when you have a new snake. I just try and forget they exist except for changing bedding and giving them water, then spend all day bashing my head against the wall trying to avoid running over and handling them. :rolleye2:

Your temps shouldn't just be "85". I have to take your whole heating and temperatures into question. Exactly where is it 85, what are you heating with, is it on a thermostat, what are you measuring temps with, where are probes (if there are any)?

When you do get to handling him, he may still be bitey. Don't reward his bad behavior put putting him back. Say each bite earns him another five or ten minutes of handling.

Yes, never show fear! He will settle done in time. As babies, they are so defensive. You are a big monster that wants to eat him in his eyes!
