    "Dimpled" eggs question
I've read that the eggs can "dimple" up to 2 weeks before hatching. Just how big is/are the dimples? My first clutch is due to hatch the last week of July and they "dimpled" about 8 days ago (day 35 :O). But I imagined little indentations. Mine have more like DENTS :weirdface

The humidity is quite near 100% in my incubator (Nature's Spirit, on a Helix Controls and hydrometer is in the egg tub) and is at 89 degrees. The younger clutch in there shows no problems, the eggs are nice a plump. There is even a SLIGHT bit of condensation on the tub lids.

I candeled and I got movement out of 4 of the 5 eggs (bad angle to get to the fifth). They are at day 43 now.

Sorry, after all of that I just want to knw how big "dimples" are. Does what's happening to my eggs sound normal?

If anyone has a pic of "dimples" on eggs that would be really helpful.

    THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!

They can be almost smooth with a few pockmarks to giant craters to totally deflated. At least from what I've seen around here.

I think mine would be along the crater line. Those eggs (or even the deflated ones) come out OK?

    Thanks!

If you are at day 43, dimpling is fine. As long as it isn't deflated by more than half of the size of the egg, you are fine and its no big deal.

IF the egg is hard to the touch, does not give, and doesn't bend, you are in trouble...

They started to dimple on day 35 but I still get some
movement on day 43. The shells are soft :)

It seems to be the case that if there are veins, never give up.

I've seen dimpled, deformed, squished, deflated, and mold-covered eggs hatch out perfectly healthy babies. And I've only been here for 3 months!

    Movement is a super-awesome sign!

Idk without pics, but I'd guess that the eggs are dimpling because the hatchlings are absorbing so much of the yolk and the shell is losing support.

Here are the pics of my clutch, as you can see some are dimpled and others are fully plump. As of this morning 5 of 7 have pipped. I thought the plump ones might take a few extra days to pip, but I just checked and one of the plump ones pipped overnight. Hope this helps.
