New member from New York
Hey everyone, my name's Leon. I'm an east coast reptile lover, based mainly in NYC but also in FL. Im a collector at heart, current collections include watches, pens, and knives. I've previously had numerous reptiles, and always craved a snake... Or two... Or three ;). Knowing my history, this will probably be my new big collection.
I recently attended the whiteplains reptile expo. I saw many beautiful reptiles, in particular beardies and ball pythons (and one magnificent Honduran snake).
I wanted so badly to pick up some of the beauties I saw at the show, but alas the effing ATM was out of money and the nearest one was far as hell...
I've been reading this site since that show and have decided that I am hooked. You guys seem to be massively knowledgeable and friendly, with a variety surpassing anything I have previously known.
I'll be at the next show on the 12th, perhaps I'll meet a few of you guys in the process!

:welcome:
I am also from NY, but upstate. I went to the white plains show as well, but funds were tight so I ended up with a black back ball python instead of anything of the flashy sort. I also stocked up on f.t rodents for my babies on the way:banana::banana:
Glad that your finding good information! When I first started keeping these guys I wish I knew about this site, who know what I would know now!
Do you have anything specific your looking for the next time you go? I'm going on to be on the hunt for an adult female pastel so I can make supers next year! Good luck with your new hobby, I'm sure you'll have lots of projects planned very soon!

I'm currently looking at some axanthics. Never knew these badboys would be so damn expensive!
At the show I saw one snake for $12,500 and was crazy surprised. After reading about some other expensive ones, I'm starting to think a few hundred for the first one isn't so bad lol.
This forum takes a bit of getting used to. A lot of the jargon used are also reduced down to acronyms which makes them doubly hard lol.

I hear ya man, it can be overwhelming when you first get into it. But to answer your question, a reduced pattern is actually exactly what it sounds like lol. If you look at a "normal" normal BP (probably sounds crazy as well) they have a busy pattern with lots of track marks going down the side. A reduced pattern won't have barely any track marks and the pattern is well, reduced lol. Just check out some normals, and then look at some reduced pattern and you'll see what I mean. They can also be called "black backs." I started with a normal before I spend any "real" money on a ball, just because I never owned a snake and didn't know how it would take. If your willing to spend 300 look at pinstripes, ghosts, pastels, lessers, cinnamons, and maybe an albino. Whatever it is you pick, good luck with it and like Ballsunlimited said, if you got any issues/questions shoot me(or him, anyone on here is good help) a pm!

Thanks guys, right now I'm looking for books and rack info. There were a few awesome custom made racks by forum members that really piqued my interest.
Know any good breeders for normal balls? Thus far vie been looking at ghosts, and axanthics but I'm always open to more info.
