Well, not really new to reptiles that is. What's up, my name is Toby. Found this site by way of Google. I've always been into reptiles and small animals for as long as I can remember. When I was smaller I used to have the normal hamsters and gerbils, however I knew I wanted to be different, and at around 11 years old I bought my first herp....A newt. Before you knew it, I had 6 newts in my awesome 50 gallon tank. After that I had whites tree frogs, then moved on to lizards such as bearded dragons and leopard geckos. Then I went to college. I wasn't allowed to have any of these at school. So after I graduated I decided since I was in Florida, I wanted some Anoles since they were so abundant. Believe it or not, they have made great pets. I've had them for about 2 years now, and I decided I wanted to venture into snakes.

So just this last week I bought my first snake. Just a normal ball python, but she's gorgeous and an awesome pet already. Already a great eater and overall great disposition. I made sure I had everything as well, including two hides, water dish, aspen bedding, thermostat with probe and humidity measurement, as well as a table lamp dimmer for the heat pad. I think everything is right from what I read: 90ish on the heat pad, 80ish for air temp, 50% humidity. (If I'm wrong please don't hesitate to point it out).

I was considering a corn, but I'm already glad I went with a ball. I do photography on my part time for some cash on the side. Usually it's dogs and cats, but lately I find I love taking pics of the snake. (I don't have a name for her yet) Anyway, sorry for the long write up here are some pics:

Been using forums for a long time as I have been into cars and racing forever. Any questions feel free to ask, and I hope to really enjoy this forum! :D

Welcome from Marietta! It's good that you chose a ball pythons, because it's illegal to keep corns in Georgia. :(

You'll have to join us for some of our local get togethers!

Thanks! Yeah I didn't know they were illegal until I went to Repticon 2 weeks ago haha. I'm from Florida so I never would've asked, except they didn't have any corns for sale at the show LOL. I live in Atlantic Station and I work up by Powers Ferry and Windy Hill, so I'm pretty familiar with the area. Let me know when ever there is a get together as I am always wanting to meet new people who share the same interests.

Oh yeah, I know exactly the area you work!

Some of us will be making a road trip to Birmingham the weekend of September 11th and 12th for the WARE show (West Alabama Reptile Expo) - that's the next "official" get together. We normally stay in the same hotel and hang out Friday and Saturday evenings.

Hey Trey! Just got your email thanks for the reply. I'll post up my pictures in a new thread here in a little while from Repticon. Hope your clutches are coming out as you hoped! Look forward to possibly purchasing from you guys in a few months. :D
