    Just a question
    Hi all,
Im new to this forum but not all that new to ball breeding.

I know the statistics but last year I rescued a female. I breed her to a black pastel and she laid four good eggs. Now what hatched were four beautiful black pastels. The female looks a little odd but not really black pastel-ish.

My question being, Is it more likely that I got super lucky hitting all black pastel or is it possible that I have the worlds plainest looking black pastel female?

    Thanks everyone,
    Tony.

The odds of going 4 for 4 black pastel from black pastel X normal are only 1 in 16. So while not expected it's certainly possible you just got a luckier outcome than 15 others.

can't really answer a question like that since it could go both ways.. hitting the odds or actually having a normal looking black pastel..

    pics please =] btw. congrats

i think shes not a black pastel- otherwise u would maybe have a super in there.

i have a friend, who breed 2006 a het pied x pied. he get 3 eggs and were sad that she only laid 3 eggs. but from these 3 eggs, 3 piebalds hatched out.

what i mean is, that the odds are not predictilble. statistic is just statistic- but nature does what she want.

when u buy a pair of hets and breed em together, and u get no visual morphs out of the egg, doesnt neccesarly mean, that the seller sold u normals as hets.

the odds are so crazy. in both ways- u can get 0 visuals from a het to het breeding, and u can get all visuals from a het to het breeding.

i think the same happend with our clutch- simple as that: the odds god was on ur side.

    congrats!

    Thanks all

Like I said before I know the basic odds and all 1 in 4, 50/50 stuff. I was a bit tired when I first posted last night lol. Allow me to clarify the question. "Are the odds greater that normal x Black all black pastels or did I miss out on the super on a Black pastel x very normal looking black pastel? I will try to get a photo on here but Ill have to find my camera first. The females origins are unknown and she is a little off looking but I would never peg her for a black pastel even if someone claimed she was.

Black pastel x normal = no supers just norms and black pastels.

50/50 like you said you just beat the odd's.
