my bp's eat habits, or lack of..
We live near Kansas City and have had a BP for about 4 years now. I have read that it isn't unusual for them to go without food for upwards of 9 months.

We are approaching the 9 month mark and I have noticed that he has a small brown spot around the front of his mouth. It has been there for about a month and he has absolutely no interest in the mice we put in his cage, nor has he had a shed cycle in as long.

Is there anything to worry about?

I have no idea what the brown spot would be but if the snake isnt eating, then it probably wont shed since it wont be growing much. I havnt experience a problem with my BP not eating though. Ive heard females can go on sperts of not eating when its breeding season but i cant see why a male wouldnt eat. Whats your enclosure setup like? Does it have a nice dark hide overtop a UTH along with most the enclosure pretty filled up? I keep mine in a 20gallon long glass tank. Uses a Exo Terra UTH, Exo Terra X-large rock hide, some large and small branches in for cover, a large Exo Terra water dish, and a glad container humidity hide. Everything is pretty compact in there creating a nice secure environment for the BP. Also i use Aspen bedding which the snake seems to like alot. Curls into it a little inside of his hide.
