    Just spent a week with my Awesome Aunt and snapped a few pic down here.Didnt really get out in the field and do some herping but came across these guys in her back yard,Enjoy!

    Can any one ID the Snake for me? I don't have my field guide on me and the best I can find online is a brown snake?

    the scale pattern and shape kind of reminds me of a rat snake perhaps? not sure on exact species but thats my input

    Dang! Just got back from a week and a half in Plano (outside of Dallas), and didn't see one reptile. But it was reallllllly hot--upper 90s and I'm a late sleeper.

    Yeah, your little guy looks like a Texas brown snake. COOL!!

    Its a colubrid and a rat snake is a type of colubrid but no its not a rat snake.
