After-feeding handling...
Hello -
I'm new to all of this. I've been reading that it's smart to not feed a snake in their cage, and to use something else during feeding time - I get that. I also read that I shouldn't handle my snake for a couple of days after it eats, so it can properly digest the food and prevent it from becoming stressed. I understand that as well.
I just fed my snake for the first time today (in a cardboard box) and when he swallowed his food, I picked him up and put him back in his cage.
My question is: Should I wait a certain amount of time after my BP finished his meal so I can put him back in his tank? Will the act of picking him up right after he eats hurt him in any way?
I know it sounds dumb, but I want to learn! :):snake:
Re: After-feeding handling...
you can put them back right away. the point is not to over handle them to the point the throw the food up. at least 24 hour but 48 is better!!! if you have to handle them like if they pop after you feed them ots really fine...
Re: After-feeding handling...
You don't need to feed in seperate container! I never have and I have never been bite! I always wait 48 hours before handling!
Re: After-feeding handling...
I always have fed my snakes in seperate containers. I have never had a problem handling them after they eat. I only handle them to put them back into their cages though. You don't have to use a different feeding container. I have done it for my snakes for the last 10 years. I guess it was a habit that I started and never broke. I get to look them over before and after each feeding. That's the main reason I started it and have done it ever since then.
