    Is this a male?
    Hi everybody,
Wondering if you all can help me out with confirming the sex of my snake here. I recently learned how to pop but Im a little worried about handling the snake too roughly during the process. I think that Im looking at the snakes hemipenes in the picture but they dont look anywhere near as long as the ones that were on the snakes that I learned on. Please take a look at the pic and tell me what you all think. The yellow in the middle was a little bit of poo that started to come out...:D

Looks like a female to me. Google images, "popping ball pythons." The first two images that come up show you a male and a female. What you are showing looks more like the female.

I'm going with male. I am by no means an expert and I am new to popping just like you. But I'd have to go with male because you can clearly see the hemipenes on either side. Those are too big to be scent glands. My male (which I thought was a female until tonight) looks very similar to that so I say yes, that is a male.

If you are popping right, its a female.

But I have a feeling that it may be the wrong angle....

You may want to have someone else that knows how to do it show you how first.

But just a friendly suggestion: if you don't know what a female or male looks like, you may not want to pop it yourself as you can seriously injure the animal. :colbert:

If you're doing it correctly, I would say female. But that's the thing with popping... lol.
