New Rubbermaid BRUTE Reptile Enclosure

I made this out of The brute because its a nice solid thick rubber that can handle the heat pad and normal wear and tear. The opening is made of PVC lattice trim from home depot. I put 3 layers of screen in the door for strength.
And 6 screws through the lid to keep it on secure and no snake will be able to push through it. All thats left to build is a stand. The entire project cost me 50 bucks. Now i just need to build 2 more.

Very interesting and creative...Will this be for permanent housing or temporary during cage maintanence?

This permanent unless they outgrow it. Im putting a log across the middle about 6 inches above the substrate to give them something to climb on and hide under. The log is about 6 inches in diameter.

Its also extreemly sturdy.

The enclosure will lay on its side to give more floor space. Im making a cradle for it right now.

It's gonna be pretty dark in there though.

maybe add a clear window for more light?

How big is the container? Do you know about what the square footage of the floor space will be with substrate? How are you going to heat it when its on its side?

The dimensions are pretty big, and with a few sticks instead of one that snake should have ample room when the brute is on it's side. However putting some kind of base inside of the brute could increase the surface area of the bottom, as well as offer a nice hide under it (if it's wood or something).

Err, the actual dimensions of the typical brute is 2.5-3' tall and 2' in diameter. Actually it could be a bit small, considering, for a boa. Still a nice bottom section about 1/3 the diameter up, then a few branches above, should give room for a large hide, which would be "underground" for the snake, substrate, and a few climbing branches.

I'm thinking of adding a screen sunroof to help with the light and it will add some ventillation. I'll add it on the next 2 that i build.

The can is a 32 gallon. I'm using a zoo med heating pad on the bottom and its doing a good job so far. I have my controller on the higest setting and the substrate is 89 degrees right above it.
