    Good shed but Bad shed...?
So my Bp Xander just shed and he did great. Almost shed in a complete piece. Which has been a first while I have had him. However he has patches on him of lighter scales. Does anyone know what might have caused this? His humidity was a consistant 70-75% throughout the whole process.

    Here are some pics.

Man that seems to be happening more and more often.....

Seems normal, as in no known ill effects and with the next shed he should be back to normal.

There was one guy that had a Spider shed and it turned almost completely gray....

It ended up coloring back up though.

    That is strange.
Is it possible that he was rubbing too hard up against the log hide or what not. And maybe somehow rubbed some scales raw?
Should i maybe give him a light neosporin rubdown?

    No dont do anything

Im sure some type of scientist or biologist could explain it, but I cant.

Its happened to peoples animals, and they always end up just fine.

I have seen where some BP's have shed and come out lighter. But that honestly looks to me like small pieces of shed still stuck. Maybe try soaking him for a while.

Ive seen this happen before, and stuck shed isnt the case here to the best of my belief.

Sounds like the humidity was a little low. Those lighter areas are also probably dull and not shiny - it's the top layer of the new scales coming off with the old shed.

    Beautiful snake though!

Have you gotten that shed off of his tail yet?

I remember that, and I thought it looked pretty cool as a gray and black spider...

Offer a humid hide either always or at least when he is about a shed. Or if you have it in an aquarium then humidity could be escaping (especially if you're using a heat lamp), which would explain bad sheds (when a snake freshly sheds if you pick it up it should be soft and you should be able to unroll it without breaking it, etc).

Just bump your humidity up and everything should be fine.

Err... ~_~ or instead of bumping the humidity try offering a humid hide. If your humidity was in the 70s then everything should be fine.
