    New baby eating question
This is about my new spider BP. Sunday when I went to feed he seemed interested in the F/t. Even struck at it but he didn't keep hold. After that he watched it but didn't take it overnight.

Conditions are good but his ides are to big. New ones should be here tomorrow or friday. I'd never seen a baby before so I didn't know how small he would be.

I know it's important to get food in him, he can't fast like an older BP. I was gonna try again friday, should I try another f/t or should I buckle and get a live just to get food in him.

He had eaten 2 hoppers and a rat fuzzy with his breeder. Which should I get?

    Hi,

Did you pre-scent and hair drier the head of the F/T? - it makes a heck of a difference with hatchlings sometimes.

Have you been keeping a track of his weight? It really does help with the decisions in this kind of situation.

I always prescent and warm. It seemed interested.

I don't own a scale, I know a should but you can only afford so many things and I'm trying to find one on sale.

The biggest question is how long after a refusal should I wait.

And should I try live friday just to get food in him. Last he ate was 6/25

And Should I do Rat Fuzzies or Mice hoppers. He ate both at the breeders.

Use whichever one he seems most interested in, some people might not agree with me, but since he is so young I would try again the very next day...

at this point you need to continue to offer live. Im sure he was on live and needs few more in him before you can move him off live. They switch fairly easy once well established. Offer e very 4 days a live hopper mouse

Thanks much rich I'll swing buy the pet supermarket on the way home and pick up a live Tomorrow and see if he wants it. I guess I'll try a rat fuzzy? Try and keep him on rats since that was the last meal he ate at the breeder.

I agree. Offer live, at least for about 6-8 weeks until it is good and established, then try switching. I would even try to switch to live rat fuzzies or pups before trying f/t. Work on one switch at a time...

Well since it's last meal was a rat fuzzy it's not really a switch but yeah I see what you mean.

I just hate feeding live it's a real hassle to find a pet store around here that does it!

But I'll feed it live for another month I guess before trying some f/t action. It seemed interested in the F/t So I don't think it will be to hard of a sell.

Well I looked at three stores today but no one had live hoppers or rat fuzzies.

So I found some smaller f/t mice...I figured it was better than offering nothing. I fitted his caage with new tighter hides and BAM

He ate the F/T coiled and had it in his mouth. When I checked 10 minutes ago it was gone. I didn't look under the hides but I am pretty sure he ate!!:banana:
