shedding more than once in a year?
Hi I just has a general question. How many time a year will a snake shed? My Razz(Ball Python) is shedding again he shedded recently (6/9/10-for that week). I didn't realize he was in shed again until i picked him up today just to play with him.
He is very calm he allows me to pick him up and everything but his eyes just look like he is about to go back into shed.
THANKS GUYS!!:gj:
Re: shedding more than once in a year?
Young one's will shed every 4 to 6 weeks. It slows down as it gets older. I think a full grown adult goes about every 3 to 4 months. Of course, it varies as all balls grow different. If they are injured, or have had mite problems they shed more often.
There is nothing to worry about, as long as his husbandry is spot on :)

What do you mean with "play"???
Re: shedding more than once in a year?
Yup, they shed WAY more than once a year. Generally about once a month for babies and every couple of months for adults. As long as he's getting all of the skin off when he sheds, then everything's perfectly normal :)
Oh, and it's best not to handle them while they're shedding so they don't get stressed.

By play I mean handle lol. Sorry!
Re: shedding more than once in a year?
Amount of weight gained (food in) = number of sheds.

Eh, not really. They shed for a lot of other reasons, including to rid themselves of pests, keep their skin from losing it's oil coating, heal injury, etc.
Stratus_020202 has it right.
